Jesus christ. I thought this thing was fast before. It is now mind-blowingly quick. Literally, its abilities of acceleration are too great for the human mind to comprehend.
I was following someone fairly closely on a 55mph road, and they were doing 55, which was unacceptable. So I passed them. In the space it took to get around them and back in my own lane I was doing 118. This took a second at the most. Maybe. Time and space start to become meaningless concepts when you twist the throttle on this bike.
Also, it will lift the front if you give it too much throttle in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and probably 4th gears.
I will say, though. Compared to the BRZ, in which any pass must be meticulously planned and preferably downhill (I did pass someone up a ~8% grade once, but it took about a 1/4 mile), the Monster allows for a pass to be made in even the shortest of openings. It’s wonderful.

Might want to censor that second paragraph unless you want to feel the wrath of oppo

I don’t particularly like being in the oncoming lane any longer than I have to.

I get that but still. If you have to go that fast to make the past you probably didn’t have time to do it in the first place. You probably could have easily made the pass doing 65-70 if you had been patient in picking your spot. There’s never a need for triple digits on a single lane road.

But even 65-70 is more dangerous than 40. And in fact, you’re almost guaranteed not to get in an auto accident if you never leave your house!
Look at it this way: If a car magically teleported into the right lane and was completely stationary, I’d hit it at about 120. If a car, say, came over an unseen dip in the road in the left lane, and I was still there because I’d been making a slow, cautious pass, I’d hit it at about 120. The difference is, the slower option requires more road and therefore more opportunities for an unseen obstacle to present itself.

Meh, we all let the hoon slip every once in a while. Nothing wrong with a little fun.
I accidentally got my Golf up to 170km/h* (~110mph) once because I thought I’d quickly wring out the gears. Turns out my car has really long gearing and it’ll go that fast in third.

Nice. Blah blah don't speed but hooning is fun, sometimes it's hard to resist to just open it up a little on the road.

I normally try not to get too crazily fast, but all my instincts about how the bike reacts to throttle inputs and such went out the window when I moved to sea level and got a 50% power boost.

I remember driving my friends STI once in the middle of winter (cold air=boost season) and i got it going waaaaaay faster than I'm comfortable with in VA haha.

Just add decimals to your numbers. Everybody will know what you mean, but no one can give you shit for it.

Eh, I don’t add units just as a precaution, but honestly it doesn’t worry me that much. If someone is really going to get upset about short term speed, then they’re going to get upset.

My dad tells stories of his Kawasaki Triple being able to pull the front end up in any gear at any speed. This is usually followed by telling me if I ever got a bike, I’d be disowned. I envy you XD
